Plants and animals die and are slowly buried by layers of rocks, forming fossil fuels. These fossils are not renewable. Today, however, you will learn how the formation of these fascinating things occurs. A fossil is the remains or imprint of an organism that died more than 10000 years ago. In some cases, fossils have been found of whole bodies, but more usually only fragments, such as pieces of skeletons, have survived. The process by which fossils are generated is called fossilization.

Bodies lying in floodplains or submerged are usually buried quickly by sand and silt. 

2 Burial

Layers of sediment (sand and silt) cover the body, turning it into stone and building up on top of it

3 Reveal

After millions of years of movement of the earth, crust cause rocks to move upwards exposing the Fossil fuel on dry land
